TAMPA (FOX 13) – Easter is just a few weeks away, and that means lots of Easter egg hunts for kids.  But those hunts can be impossible for some children.

Monday, volunteer bomb technicians from the Tampa Police Department, Hillsborough Sheriff\’s Office and the Tampa Bay Area Regional Bomb Squad put together special Easter eggs for children who are blind or visually impaired.

Inside each is a tiny beeper that creates a sound to help the children find them.

The eggs are being donated to Lighthouse of Pinellas for their Easter Egg hunt this weekend.

\”When you have something like an Easter egg hunt, it\’s extremely visual,” explained Lighthouse’s Kristen Mongelluzzi. “Kids are running around; they\’re picking up all the eggs they can find.  Our kids can\’t keep up; it\’s not fun for them. So by having beeping eggs, they\’re able to participate and enjoy something we all take for granted.\”

The beeping eggs cost $20 apiece.  With the donations, each child will get a bag of eggs so they can have their hunt at home.
