Vision Care Physicians & Referral Form
If low vision or blindness is preventing your patient from performing typical activities of daily living, Lighthouse of Pinellas is here as your partner. Our primary goal is to help individuals with vision impairment live as independently as possible.
Our AER-Accredited services, provided by nationally-certified staff, are available at no cost for blind and visually impaired individuals from babies to seniors living in Pinellas County. For eligibility, the vision impairment must hinder the ability to learn, perform daily activities and/or acquire or maintain employment.
Vision Rehabilitation is the Standard of Care
Dr. David W. Parke, CEO of the American Academy of Ophthalmologists (AAO) recently announced that Vision Rehabilitation is now the standard of care for patients who are losing their vision.
With advances in technology, modern vision rehabilitation can help most patients with any degree of vision loss.
This video (on right), There is Something Else You Can Do, emphasizes the impact of vision loss on the individual and the responsibility of the eye care physician to refer or provide vision rehabilitation.
“I’m so glad my doctor referred me to Lighthouse of Pinellas. I thought their staff might be volunteers, but that’s not the case. Each instructor is highly-trained and professional, yet they are kind, caring, and you can tell they want you to succeed..”
